Terms of service

These terms apply to merchants who install Mint Vote ("the app"), made by Mint Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

The service

The app adds an "Ask my friends" button to your product pages. Shoppers create polls between 2 to 4 of your products or variants and share a vote link on your store's domain; their friends vote and the shopper sees the results. With the paid plans (Pro, Plus) you can also let shoppers buy the winner, see analytics and (Plus) give shoppers a single-use thank-you discount code. We may improve or change features; we will not remove a paid feature you rely on without notice.

Billing

Plans are chosen on Shopify's plan page and billed by Shopify every 30 days in USD after the free trial. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from the app's Plans page or by uninstalling the app; moving to Free takes effect at the end of the billing cycle you already paid for. Charges are handled entirely by Shopify under Shopify's terms.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for your store and its products, the texts and discount settings you choose in the app, the discount codes the app creates in your store on your instruction, and for moderating polls on your store (the app filters questions and names and lets you delete any poll, but no filter is perfect).

Acceptable use

Don't use the app to publish unlawful, hateful or misleading content, or to send unsolicited messages. We may limit or stop polls on a store that is used to abuse the service.

Availability and liability

We work to keep the app available and secure, but it is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid for the app in the 3 months before a claim.

Data processing addendum

When the app processes personal data of your shoppers and their friends on your behalf, you are the controller and we are the processor. We will:

  • process personal data only to provide the app's features, following your instructions given through the app's settings;
  • process only the minimum data needed: a poll stores its products, the optional question and first name the shopper typed, and votes identified only by keyed one-way hashes of a random device token and of the IP address, scoped to the poll; no email address, customer account or IP address is stored;
  • never sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models;
  • keep it confidential and limit access to authorised personnel;
  • encrypt it in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Cloudflare D1 and R2 encryption at rest);
  • use Cloudflare (hosting, database, image storage) and Shopify as our only sub-processors;
  • delete polls 30 days after they close, order IDs (Plus revenue) after 60 days, and all shop data after uninstall (shop redaction);
  • help you respond to data subject requests and notify you without undue delay of any personal data breach.

Changes

We will post changes to these terms here and update the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
